THE SOLAR ECLIPSE REMINDED US OF OUR ROLES AS EARTH'S STEWARDS

Last night at 11:14 pm PDT on April 28, 2014 we experienced a solar eclipse, which occurs twice a year when the Sun, Moon, and Earth align such that solar radiation is temporarily blocked. This occurs two weeks after the lunar eclipse on April 15. (Eclipses come in pairs). Earlier on Monday morning (7:23 am PDT), the Moon began transiting the sign of Taurus. Consequently, this annular solar eclipse occurs while both luminaries are transiting the earth sign of Taurus.

Positioned in the middle of Spring, the solid energy of Taurus represents the cultivation of the earth and the enjoyment of the sensual pleasures we experience when are fully in our body and closely tied to nature. My analytical interpretive bias (or is it my intuition) suggests that these cosmic signals alert us to our urgent responsibility to alter (an eclipse manifestation) our relationship to the earth. We seem to need frequent reminders! I recall that when I saw the Dalai Lama this past February, he urged the audience to use their profession to send their message. Whether astrology becomes my profession or stays an avocation, I will seize the opportunity to begin a groundswell of voices who want to rescue our planet.
